Derek Johnson has a B.A. in print journalism from Hofstra University and an M.A. in public policy from George Mason University. He has six years of professional writing experience as a journalist, academic and research analyst and his work has previously appeared in The Washington Post Capital Business, The Gazette and GovWin.com. In graduate school he specialized in foreign policy, surveillance and civil liberties issues, and took classes with national journalist Bill Schneider, former CIA director Michael Hayden and former senior councilor to the CIA director Robert Deitz.
